The product

Choosing a movie often takes longer than watching the trailer. Watchawatchin asks how you feel, what genres you like and which platforms you have, then gives you three picks, not an endless feed.

The idea

I wanted to spend less time choosing a film.

Streaming apps are built to keep you browsing. Recommendations follow what’s trending or what you watched last, not what you’re in the mood for right now. And half of what other sites suggest isn’t on any platform you pay for.

The useful question is what you feel like watching tonight.

How it works

Four quick questions, or one movie you love.

  • 1

    Pick a mood

Start from how you feel, not from a catalogue.

  • 2

    Choose genres

One or more, to narrow it down.

  • 3

    Select your platforms

Only suggestions you can press play on.

  • 4

    Get your top 3

With where to stream each one and the trailer.

Or skip the questions: search for a movie you love and get similar ones instead.

MoodThe first question is about you, not the movie.

Top 3A short list you can actually decide from.

Key decisions

The app returns three films instead of an endless list.

  • A

    Feeling before filters

Mood comes first, so the result fits the evening, not just your history.

  • B

    Only what you can watch

Filtering by your platforms removes the most frustrating kind of recommendation.

  • C

    Three, on purpose

Fewer options make choosing easier, and faster.

Feedback

The time it gives back.

The feedback from people who tried it wasn’t about the recommendations themselves. It was about the time they usually lose choosing.

“This would save me a lot of time every weekend.”

Reflection

I built Watchawatchin because I was tired of browsing streaming apps. The first version let me test whether mood and subscription filters could help someone choose a film sooner.
